A poem by J.F. Conant

He who loves an old house never loves in vain. How can an old house used to sun and rain, to lilac and to larkspur and an elm above-ever fail to answer the heart that gives it love?

Happy New Year! How were your holidays?

Our holidays were good. Lots of family time. Lots of friends. Way too much food and drink! LOL

The weather was pretty warm for December in Western NY, until last night, that is. We woke up to a couple of inches of snow this morning. Joe had to drive Ben to the airport to catch a plane back to MD and I was concerned about the driving conditions, but they made it to the airport and Joe (and Jenna) made it back home again safely, so all's well.
Ben was a little homesick even before he left.  Growing up is
hard. I felt badly for my boy, but I know he'll live. It was so wonderful to have all of the kids at home, though.  Just so wonderful......

Gillian helped me bake and she helped me decorate for the holidays and afterwards, take down the decorations.   She is my angel. And just such a terrific young person.
The Christmas gifts were all appreciated and loved, I think. I know I certainly love my new Kindle Fire. I am not exactly the most tech savy person on earth, so I am still learning about what it can do and how to use it. But I am enjoying it very much.
Joe found time to pull out the cruddy wood section of floor in the hot tub room and replace it with tile.  It just looks so much better now!  He paid for all that hard work with a sore back for a few days, poor fella.
We also got new cookware. Mundane, you say?  You
would only say that if you had to use worn out pans. This new Rachel Ray set is so nice to work with.

Jim went away with Abby and her family for New Years. It just seems odd not to have all my chicks at home. I suppose I should get used to it, though. They are all growing up so quickly.

So, the New Year, the traditional time of new beginnings and fresh starts is here. Have you made New Year's resolutions yet?  Or maybe just set goals for 2012? I'd love to hear about them, if you would care to share them.

Wishing you all God's blessings in the New Year!

What a great update! Loved seeing the family again and catching up on all of the changes/news. Gotta come back later and finish this.

No resolutions - just my usual daily lists and goals. This month I've got to make those appointments I've been putting off. That's on my personal list. My volunteer list includes updating the hospital auxiliary by-laws. . .again. . .updating the scholarship form, writing a newsletter, updating the membership list and it goes on. I hope to work on some of it tomorrow.

My husband wants a kindle fire. We have to get another laptop soon, because with 2 computers and 4 people, someone always gets left out. Thanks for stopping by and visiting me too.
