A poem by J.F. Conant

He who loves an old house never loves in vain. How can an old house used to sun and rain, to lilac and to larkspur and an elm above-ever fail to answer the heart that gives it love?

I feel like we were duped

In the past my husband and I have given to the Susan G. Komen foundation to help fund a cure for breast cancer. Imagine our surprise to learn that they were giving money to Planned Parenthood, this country's number one abortion provider!

When PP learned that Komen was going to stop their funding, they threw a great big hissy fit! And Komen made a big fat U turn and will continue giving money to them.

We are pro-life. If we give money for cancer research, it should be for cancer research. I feel duped and angry. I wrote to the Komen foundation and let them know that our donations will go to St. Judes from now on. A place where they try to cure children, not kill them.

If you feel that your donations for cancer research should GO to cancer research, I hope you will take a few moments to let The Susan G. Komen foundation know.

In the meantime, here is a link to St.Jude's:   www.stjudes.org/   God bless you.

That's not the only thing the donor funds go towards ... only 24% of donor funds actually go towards cancer research. Per their financial records they spend $1 Million a year, of donor funds, on legal fees fighting small non-profits on using the phrase 'for the cure' in their titles. Is that really necessary? There are other cancer groups that are fighting for a cure too, SGK shouldn't have the monopoly on using that phrase.
